Worship is a chance for us to gather weekly as a community--in person and online on our Facebook page--to encounter the Living God. It's a chance for us to celebrate our joys, to share our concerns with God and to inspire us. We hope that by the end of each worship, people are sent back into the world ready to love and serve our God by loving and serving our neighbor.
Worship starts each Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. You'll be greeted at the doors directly beside the parking lot by friendly faces. They will help direct you upstairs to the sanctuary. Most folks show up about 15 minutes beforehand. Grab yourself a cup of coffee (feel free to bring it into worship) before heading into the sanctuary where you can find any seat and meet some good neighbors. Announcements and music will be on the screens until worship beings.
During worship (usually about an hour) we'll hear scripture, sing songs (some oldies and some newer), let our guards down in silent prayer and everyone is invited to share in communion as a reminder of God's love given to each of us and our desire to try and live accordingly.
After worship, follow the crowds downstairs to the Fellowship Hall for coffee fellowship, where volunteers share some great treats while you're invited to continue conversing with folks. There are often other Bible studies or small spiritual formation opportunities that are offered after, and you're invited to try out any of them.
Children are welcome to worship, and there is a specific Children's Moment just for them. We have special tote bags to keep kiddos engaged during worship, or kids are welcome in the "Pray Ground"-a specially designed space for kids to observe, participate and explore!
For infants and toddlers, we have a nursery that is staffed by two trained employees, and is open for children birth-3 years old.
For kids 4-4th grade, we offer Children’s Church during the school year, which happens right after the Children's Moment. Currently, we're using the "Whirl" curriculum by Sparkhouse Media that is an inclusive, fun experience to help kids wonder, explore and grasp lessons in faith. Two trained volunteers will lead the kids through these activities and will reunite kids with their parents at the end of worship.
Our building is handicap accessible, has an elevator and we work to make sure it is welcoming to everyone.
Bus Ministry-If you would like a ride to church, please contact Bill Leitze at (309) 253-1730 and we can pick you up any Sunday. Our bus is also handicap accessible.
In fact, the word, liturgy, means “the work of the people.” We want to put everyone’s gifts to use, which is why we offer volunteer opportunities to help with so many parts of worship:
-Sing in the choir
-Play in the bell choir
-Greet people at the front door
-Hand out bulletins as an usher
-Read scripture and calls to worship
-Provide treats for coffee fellowship
-Help with the audio/visual of the online broadcast
-Share a children’s message
-Teach/lead children’s church
-Drive our bus to pick up folks
